Year 3

Today is the first day of the third year of residency. Things will be somewhat different. I will be on call half as much. Half of my time will be on nice little electives learning the nuances of things like reading EEGs and doing EMGs. I now have more experience than half the people in the hospital (lots of scared-looking interns in the hallways today).

Oh, and that baby thing. The date has been refined to mid-January. We are now taking reasonable suggestions on names. Apparently I am not allowed to choose Lando, Han, Chewy, JaMarcus, Bullitt, Tiberius, Trajan, Octavian, Titus, MoonUnit, Imrickjamesbitch, or a couple of others that I have suggested. Heather seems to have infinite veto power. I'm not sure what other names are left. We do know another expectant couple, one half of which is seriously pushing for Hans for theirs.

And don't get me started on the World Cup. Who would have predicted that the only Portuguese-speaking team in the semis would not be Brazil? Among many other things.

Apparently I have to go now. Something about supper.

Bullitt is out because it is the CAT'S name. I like Sam for a boy and Cecelia for a girl. Simple and it goes with Hard, with minimal suggestive nicknames

JaMarcus. It has already been shown that he would be a star in the SEC with that name.

Maxim. You know you want Maxim.

Maxim Hard "Max Hard"

That is just a inherently cool name.

This world cup is freaking crazy. How do the top-3 teams in the world all get taken out (Brazil, Argentina, Englind)?

But as I type this I just saw the Italians open a can in over-time against the Germans. Thank the lord no way I could have taken the Germans in the final.

How about "Rommell," or "Prokopfiev?" Those are excellent names for the fruit of Brian's loins.

Eight. The name is eight, boy or girl. In addition to being a living tribute to Yogi Berra and to a lesser extent, Dale Earnhardt Jr., when listed last name first, It will read: Hard, Eight.
