Bitches on Bikes and No More Lies

So we went to Lexington's 4th of July celebration yesterday. Interesting. Most random parade ever. There were firetrucks. And corvettes. And society of lesbian motorcycle riders. And several candidates for local public office. And belly dancers. And square dancers. And elementary school kids. And a UPS truck with flames painted on the side. And actually a lot of other random vehicles with flames on the side. And dwarfs on scooters. And a group protesting the cutting of several trees from the downtown sidewalks. Bizarre. Need I remention the society of lesbian bikers. Or the belly dancers (old, overweight belly dancers and young skanky-looking ones too).

On another note, Heather is experiencing her first night of overnight call in the neonatal ICU. Intense.

Our pumpkin plants have sprouted and are a few inches tall now, growing quite quickly. The butternut squash plants seem to be doing well too. Of the four gourd plants, only one has responded to dirt and water. The others must be shy. And our tomatillo plants are really cool-looking. They each have several of the little tomatillo husks sprouting out from the limbs.

I so wish you had a digital camera at that parade.
